Creativity is a spiritual practice. It is not something that can be perfected, finished, and set aside.” – Julia Cameron

What does it take to become a creatively expressed version of yourself? In part six of this series on creating and living Queen Mindset Leadership πŸ‘‘, I'm going in on my creative healing journey.

This blog explores how I reimagined myself as a Renaissance Mujer who lives by her values and creates a liberated, creatively expressed life.

Reclaiming Creativity as Personal Purpose

You may recall from one of my previous blogs that it was a vision of living in a healed, creatively expressed world that led me down my own healing path.

Along the way, I poured everything into healing my life stories. And then came the call for purpose.

Years before I ever saw myself as a leader, I was focused on finding purpose. This theme ran deeply through my journals, readings, and therapy sessions.

I’d spent years wondering what purpose and mission really meant. By the time I began my sabbatical, I was actively defining it for myself, especially as a woman who is child- and marriage-free.

Through books on designing the life I wanted, I realized something fundamental had been missing: creative expression. After a lifetime of intellectual pursuits, I didn’t see myself as a creative.

Then, in a series of fortunate events, I found myself investing in the intellectual gifts I was discovering—writing and speaking—when a friend gifted me a copy of The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron.

At first, I tried reading the book alone but couldn’t get past the first chapter. It was too painful to face how I’d cut off my creativity in service of “success.”

But then, a community workshop popped up in a newsletter from my local Creative Arts Center.

The workshop’s focus was on reading through The Artist’s Way. Seven of us joined that first class; three and a half months later, only two finished.

I’d read books about creativity and memoirs by creatives before, but I’d never worked on my creativity. What I discovered was that I wanted to be so much more.

I didn’t just want to be a Speaker, Writer, and Coach—though that was once the dream—I also wanted to be an astrophysicist, a dancer, a painter, a fashionista, a travel blogger, a photographer…

I wanted to squeeze every ounce of creativity from myself, as a way of both being and leading.

Creativity Enters Queen Mindset Leadership πŸ‘‘

In the blog post on developing Queen Mindset Leadership πŸ‘‘, you'll notice Creative Wellness called out.

If you were to google "wheel of wellness," you wouldn't often see creativity at the center.

But as I devoured book after book on creativity—not just to build my business, but to build myself—I knew it had to be part of my framework.

You see, Queen Mindset Leadership πŸ‘‘ isn't just about learning to live in the current systems and culture that exist around us, it's about finding the inner power to actively CREATE a new reality.

It’s not enough to have visions of your future if you don’t feel empowered to make a difference. And recognizing all the forms of expression you admire in others can reveal what you want to create in yourself. Your envy, then, is a signal of self-desire.

As I healed my sacral chakra (the seat of creativity), especially as a woman who would never create human life, I had to redefine what creation meant—through art and expression.

This desire for creative liberation also gave me permission to experiment with approaches to my business, by trusting my inner guidance once my spirituality was fully activated.

This self-led, intuitive trust is something many prolific creatives speak about. When you allow yourself to create without judgment, that’s where innovation truly begins. And that was closer to my initial vision.

In order to teach others to become creatively expressed, I first had to allow myself to be.

The first two creative efforts I pursued were monumental: my first book and my first painting.

The painting, an ode to my romantic relationship—what I call my “twin flameship”—captured everything I love about him: his love of mountains, his essence, his adventurous spirit.

Writing my book, a goal I’d revisited for eight years, finally gave me the vision, confidence, and clarity to bring Queen Mindset Leadership πŸ‘‘ to life at scale.

Writing "La Mujer Libre: Birthing Queen Mindset Leadership πŸ‘‘"

If you’ve dipped into the self-help space, you’re probably familiar with the quote, “It’s not the destination, it’s the journey,” often attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Well, writing a book is truly a journey. Each attempt came with its own share of self-reflection and discovery.

By the time I crossed paths with my book coach—and first Queen Mindset Leadership πŸ‘‘ beta client—Sabrina Estudillo Butler, I was ready to bring this book to life.

I had invested in writing accelerators, joined virtual communities, attended a writing retreat, and worked with a writing accountability partner. I was ready to share what had once felt impossible to voice.

The way Sabrina and I bartered services is a story for another blog, but suffice it to say, I was grateful to the Universe for aligning us. After completing The Artist’s Way and countless solo attempts, having a coach to witness and support me has been transformative.

Over three months, she guided me from a comprehensive writing plan, with chapter outlines and the ultimate transformation of Queen Mindset Leadership πŸ‘‘.

Seven weeks later, I had both orated and transcribed my first 281-page manuscript.

During this time, I guested on a few podcasts, sharing my thoughts on Queen Mindset Leadership πŸ‘‘ and my upcoming book. These conversations gave me the practice to articulate how Queen Mindset Leadership πŸ‘‘ could flourish within a group coaching experience.

Each chapter became a blueprint for identifying heartbreaks and ruptures in wellness, using the chakras to heal myself energetically, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

In the final chapter, I emphasized knowing and healing your identities, using the chakras as a guide not only to liberate yourself from limiting beliefs but to reconnect with your divine creativity and create… whatever you want.

My memoir transformed into a manifesto on healed leadership. I realized that healing life’s traumas is what enables us to access an infinite source of inspiration and creativity, illuminating our connection to humanity, the world, and the Universe.

It became clear that Queen Mindset Leadership πŸ‘‘ was my Spirit’s answer to healed leadership.

Queen Mindset Leadership πŸ‘‘: Healed Leadership

I’ve been writing this series for weeks now, and within that time, three clients have signed up for my Mastermind—three more than when I first began envisioning this program.

Throughout this series, you’ve seen me trace the winding path that led to a new paradigm of leadership centered on wellness and inner connection.

You’ve read about my journey through identity, discovery, and self-application.

This invitation to a life of creative expression is available to you, too.

The Mastermind kicks off on November 14, 2024, and will continue rolling through the new year.

There’s still time! Are you ready to lead differently?

Up Next: In the final installment of this series, I’ll circle back to how my trip to Egypt infused my journey with an audacious energy, helping me trust in my ability to create the unknown.

I’ll share how Queen Hatshepsut’s influence guided me as I created the mastermind—before I was fully “ready.” Stay tuned for an announcement of retreats coming in 2025 and new speaking engagements with organizations focused on healing, belonging, holistic well-being, and creating meaningful leadership.

P.S. If you’ve been following closely, you’ll notice this series follows the chakras. This post was about the sacral chakra; the next will ground this journey in the root chakra.
